Mr. Vachon was President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bank of Canada from 2007 to 2021 where he was responsible for the strategies, orientations and development of the Bank and its subsidiaries. Mr. Vachon started his tenure with National Bank of Canada in 2005.
Mr. Vachon began his career in 1985 at Citibank and joined Lévesque Beaubien Geoffrion in 1986. From 1990 to 1996, he worked for Bankers Trust, where he was ultimately appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian subsidiary, BT Bank of Canada. Mr. Vachon rejoined the National Bank in 1996 as President and Chief Executive Officer of Innocap Investment Management. A year later, he was appointed Senior Vice-President – Treasury and Financial Markets.
Mr. Vachon serves on the Boards of Molson Coors Beverage Company, Groupe CH Inc. and Alimentations Couche-Tard, and he is involved with a number of social and cultural organizations.
Mr. Vachon serves on the Board of Directors for Capital Funding Group, Inc. Mr. Vachon is a Member of the Order of Canada, Officer of the National Order of Québec and Knight of the Order of Montréal as well as a recipient of the Global Citizens Award from the United Nations Association in Canada.
As an Operating Partner, Mr. Vachon receives compensation from certain JCF funds and portfolio companies.
